Trackball

Trackballs seem to be the lesser favorite of point and click devices for digital artists. A trackball is like an inverted mouse, where the ball is on top. The ball is controlled directly by the thumb or index finger while seated in a motionless base. They offer less precision than optical mice, and are the least similar to a drawing experience. Trackballs do have their benefits, though. Trackballs are more comfortable to use and offer a faster point and click experience than other such devices. Modern trackballs use an optical relay device just like optical mice to control movement.
