Suggestion for sorting schools

Since there can be a lot of information in these pages, I'm wondering if it is worth sorting schools by city (alphabetically by city name) rather than continent. I personally have issues with trying to find a school in any specific city on this page. Would anyone figure that people would be interested in finding local educational facilities first, or sort through the schools themselves alphabetically first?--Enygma 19:20, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

What all should go here?

I put up the list of schools initially just to get some material over here (I grabbed it from the "which school should I go to" in gneeral discuss).

I think we really need some more input from the Mod's (read: Leigh, Roberto, Rebecca, Stahlberg, & JeremyBirn) before we put any structure here.

  • I don't think so - Some of them may be coming past here once in a while, however it is a seperate entity to CGTalk and will possibly have it's own set of mods, that being said, I'm an Admin here, and it's my pet project, and User:Mibus also drops past, so you can feel safe checking with us. Ok, here's an idea

I was about ready to do an extensive editing of the portal, but then I had an idea come up. On this main portal page, it might be worth listing the schools alphabetically, after we include links to separate pages with schools listed by city, list institutions offering online courses, and maybe list by country as well in a separate page. If that sounds like an idea, I will put some time into it tonight and get things refined. I can try and look through what I can as well to determine which facilities have online offerings.--Enygma 03:17, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

  • There's not a lot of use building a list of schools alphabetically, if you tag each entry with [[Category:School]] you will see a listing of them at http://wiki.cgsociety.org/index.php/Category:School in fact if you look at http://wiki.cgsociety.org/index.php/Category:Software it seems if we tag schools with other information, like which country they're in, they'll show up in a neatly sorted list. BTW, maybe I'm editing the discussion section wrong how did you guys get it so it shows your name and timestamp?

Categories in Ed-u-ma-cat-ion :)

Hey all. It seems we really need to get some categories going in the Education section, at least the schools. May I recommend categories based on the type of education they provide (i.e. trade schools versus accredited colleges/uni's, technical versus artistic, applied versus abstract, etc..)
