Portal Talk:Companies
Portals should essentially be gateways to sections, so as you're listing a bunch of studios, it's worth enclosing them in brackets so they become links (even if the articles don't exist) Antrent 06:10, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Sorting Studios
I have a blog entry where I had fired up a list of schools and shops here in Calgary that deal with CG in some way or another.

Firetoad Software
New Machine Studios
White Iron Inc.
I'm not sure how some of them should be categorized since the definition of mid sized studio is ambiguous. I don't know if it should include a list of any studio or just known studios that have x number of employees, or have done notable reels and shorts. --Enygma 06:15, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think the current categories are a little spurious as well; if you make a studio page make sure you put the text [[Category:Studio]] at the bottom of the page. Portals will show selections of related articles rather than just listing them as they are now Antrent 06:46, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think this should be a comprehensive list for all companies, even if they have only one or two people. It could prove to be a very valuable resource for people answering job ads. Also, why split up the companies according to size? seems a bit ambiguous to me. For instance, Animal Logic is Australias biggest VFX company and it's listed under the 'mid-sized VFX studios' section.
Perhaps it would be prudent not to specifically list companies as having shut down rather list them in their appropriate area, and in the companies description explain the shutdown. Antrent 04:59, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yu+Co is really a motion graphics shop. They're a big player in film title design. (govinda). Imaginary Forces is not only a motion graphics shop, they're among the most legendary, having been started by Kyle Cooper. (govinda)
- 2000 Strong produces video game cinematics mostly using XSI for Electronic Arts, but which category does that go under? (govinda)
3D Printer Companies
Hi all,
I added a few 3D Printer manufacturers until 'Hardware' Feel free to change/remove them if you feel they should be elseware or removed.

Perhaps by country/region? --Mummey 21:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Corrections
Just wondering why Softimage is listed under the "Dead (or merged) Companies" section instead of the Software section. Tocpe 21:01, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
