Requirements
The CGUploader is known to work on Windows XP, running JRE5.0 it should work under other operating systems as long as they are running Java.
A method of compressing video is also required, some applications are listed below.

Video Encoding
Currently the CGUploader only supports .flv files -

Download one of these and encode your video - Videos need to be encoded with a screen ratio of 4:3, common resolutions would be 640x480 or 320x240. The higher the bitrate you use the more space your animation will require. Keep in mind you are allowed only 50 megs of video files when you are encoding video.

Installation
Once you have encoded your videos you will need to upload them using the CGUploader. This tool was designed in java so that it could be multi-platform; you will need the latest version of java, available here:

Once you have installed java you should be able to run the CGUploader found here:
http://porfolio.cgsociety.org/uploader/cguploader.jar
Due to a bug in Internet Explorer, when you download this file it may be renamed to 'CGUploader.zip' if this is the case you need to rename the file 'CGUploader.jar'
If you can not run the file or running it brings up a different application, you can run the file with the command line:

Usage
- Login Details : Enter your CGSociety username and password here.
- Category : Select from 2D, 3D or Video gallery entry.
- Title : Enter the name of the Gallery entry here.
- Description : Tell people about your upload here.
- Software Applications Used : Select the applications you used to make this gallery entry, if you hold down Control (Option on Mac) you can select multiple packages.
- Image file : Click on the browse button to find the image you wish to upload on your hard-drive. If you are uploading a video, this image will be used as for preview purposes.
- Image Preview : Once you have selected an image it will show up here.
- Video Source File : If you are uploading a video entry, click this browse button to select a FLV file from your hard drive.
- Thumbnail Image File : If you wish you may upload an 80x80px jpeg to be used as a thumbnail for your entry, otherwise this will be created from your image file. The thumbnail file must not be larger than 16 kilobytes.
- Thumbnail Preview : Once you have selected a thumbnail it will show up here.
- Progress bar : Shows progress of operations
- Upload file button : If all the required components are selected this will upload the file
- Status Text : gives feedback of progress
Before you start, you will need:
- FLV encoded video
- Preview Image
- 80x80px thumbnail Image (Optional)
- Start up the CGUploader
- Fill in your username and password
- Select the category you wish the upload to be in, if you wish to upload video or animation of any kind select 'video'
- Select the packages you used to create the image or animation
- Browse to find your preview image
- Browse to find your video file
- If you have a thumbnail image browse to find your thumbnail image
- Click 'Upload File'
- Wait for a dialog box to show up and say 'Completed'
You're done! Be sure to visit your gallery management page at: http://portfolio.cgsociety.org/manage/gallery.php and make sure the upload is selected as visible.
Vista 64-bit Java Virtual Machine Launcher Could not find the main class. Program will now exit. Error Work-around Create a bat file: Open up note pad then copy/paste this code [CODE] "bin\javaw.exe" -jar "cguploader.jar" [/CODE] with quotes and save it as CG Uploader.bat Then put the bat file in your java folder. Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.6.0_07 Place it just outside of the lib and bin folders. Then put cguploader.jar in the same directory. Rt-click the bat file and send to desktop to create a shortcut.
