Diffuse Reflectance
A surface with diffuse reflectance scatters incoming light uniformly in all directions. Diffuse reflectance stems from tiny irregularities of a surface reflecting a beam of incoming light in a number of different directions.
Typical examples of surfaces exhibiting diffuse reflectance are matte surfaces such as cardboard or unfinished wood. Diffuse reflectance can be regarded as the complement of specular reflectance.
